Fat Pants

We have all felt that dread of sliding on your favorite pair of jeans and them not fitting at all or quite right.  A few years ago, I gained weight up to 265, and I could not fit in any of my clothes.  My uniforms fit so tight that my confidence was shot.  I almost gave up when the weight did not come off as quick as I wanted.  Then, magically (not really magic, it was hard work), the pants began to slowly fit better each week until they fit perfectly.

The feeling of liberation from the bars of obesity is quite a confidence boost, and it only gets stronger as you can slide the pants up and down.  The feeling of the zipper going up with more and more ease magnifies the feelings that you got this and obesity is just one more conquered accomplishment that will make your diligence stronger.

Weight loss seems like an easy task until you try to tackle it.  A step on the scale can be a confidence boost or so demoralizing that you give up.  The closet may contain the answer to boost your confidence.  Pull out those old pants and see if you have made progress.  In my professional opinion, those pants are a better gauge of success than the scale any day.  Use them to motivate yourself to push to that next level.

The bottom line: Fitting into the next size of clothing can be such a HUGE motivator for you.  The scale readings are not a valid measure of body fat and change from hour to hour based on hydration and salt intake.   Read more in Weight Loss Tip: Measure Your Waist.  The next big step is when you can fit both legs into one leg of your old pants and walk around like you’re wearing a weird skirt.  This amount of weight loss might not be healthy for all, but some of us can do it.
