If you visit the Fairlife milk website, you can easily find the claims that it is nutrient-rich milk made with a patented cold-filtration process that removes the lactose and increases the protein content.  The claim that their filtration process was inspired by the same process that removes impurities from water.  The process reportedly started with dairy from family-owned dairy farms that is processed by soft filters that concentrate and removed parts to leave the milk goodness that had less lactose and more calcium and protein.  

I cannot emphasize enough how great this milk tastes.  I compare the skim to whole milk.  It is so rich and creamy; you will swear it has fat in it.  The best part is that it is packed with protein and calcium.  Click on the chart to the rights for more information on the nutritional content.  

Fairlife is a lactose-free cow’s milk: This alternative will not work if you are milk allergic, but if you are intolerant, it might.  Milk allergies are due to the protein in milk, and this protein is still present in Fairlife.  Lactose, the carbohydrate in milk, is what causes milk intolerance.  Intolerant people have less lactase (enzyme) to digest milk, so it ends up in the bowels causing gas and diarrhea,  You may be able to take smaller amounts so lactose-free or reduce lactase might be just what you need. Lactose-free milk has the same nutritional value as standard milk.

  • Nutrition: One Cup (Skim): 80 calories, 0g fat, 0g saturated fat, 8g of protein, 30 percent DV calcium and 25 percent of the DV for vitamin D.  Dairy milk also offers potassium, phosphorus, and vitamins A and B. Fairlife ultrafiltered milk is near lactose-free and higher in protein than standard milk.  
  • Advantages: Has a taste similar to identical to milk, so it is more likely to be equal in taste and texture.  Cow’s milk is loaded with nutrients, and it’s also a naturally good source of quality whey protein. It also has no added sugars, unlike many plant-based kinds of milk.  It’s the standard for most recipes, from soups and sauces to smoothies and baked goods.  It can be found in skim, full fat, 1%, and 2% fat.  
  • Disadvantages: It is still dairy and should be avoided if you have a religious, personal, and allergic reason to avoid milk.  

The bottom line:  Fairlife milk is a great alternative to milk for those that are intolerant or want a little more protein in their milk with less sugar.  Fairlife has more protein and more calcium and best of all; it tastes like mike because it is milk.  If you are milk allergic, you have to avoid Fairlife because it is milk.  I would recommend it over milk for most but especially for those trying to lose weight.
