Eating Healthy In Restaurants

Eating out with family and friends shouldn’t be an excuse to eat unhealthy foods. This article contains five of the tips that I use to keep my calorie count down when I eat out.  Now, you can sit and enjoy your meal guilt-free.   So,  you can sit and enjoy the company of your family and the meal you are about to eat.

Eating at a restaurant does not have to sabotage your diet or weight loss plans.  Less than ten years ago, it was nearly impossible to stop for a meal if you were health-conscious.  I would often bring my meals in a cooler during travel because the healthy choices in fast-food restaurants were pretty slim, and I would often grow tired of the healthier choices after 1-2 stops.  Healthier meals of the time were very bland or just not good at all.   Often if you stopped at a fast-food restaurant, your choice was between a sad-looking side salad or a grilled chicken sandwich (if the restaurant had one).  The dressing choices for the salad center on fat-filled or tasted unnatural and like battery acid.  No real good choice was to be had.  

Making smart choices when dining out is not as difficult as you might think.  Now, you have excellent choices, but you need to choose wisely.  Not all menu items are as healthy as they claim to be.  The menus in most restaurants have healthier choices in sections that are readily labeled as healthy, and the nutrition is readily available online. Still, you can choose from the others, too, if you follow some of the tips below.  

The bottom line: You can eat out and still maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight.  I will post more on this topic with examples soon.
