Remember the lessons but let the past go.  

I have found that dieting is all about focusing on the future. Like the Apple Computer theme, it is important in weight loss that you think differently – you must start thinking thin. Far too often, we hold on to the belief that they can’t think or act like a thin person until they reach their goal weight. If you focus on thinking like the past you will either fail to lose the weight or gain it all back.

Part of the change is to stop dwelling on the past and still remember the lessons learned. Dwelling on the past failures will lead to self-defeating thoughts that will lead to ultimate failure. Instead, focus on your successes and think and live like someone who is thin. Like NFL quarterbacks, successful dieters have a short memory and learn from their mistakes but fail to dwell on the mistakes. You slipped up and had a little splurge, but it is important to forget the error but learn from it.

The bottom line: Today is time to start thinking and most of all, living like a thinner, healthier person. Focus on the future and avodi the self defeating behavior of you past failures.
