Portion control is essential for weight loss. We have all been tunned by our grandmothers and parents to clean out plates. There are many differences between the diets out there, but they all have something in common and that is portion control. At their core, nearly all diets recommend portion control as a means to limit calorie intake and those that don’t should be immediately suspect.  

I’m not really a fan of any specific “diet” and I think that your weight-loss trip or path to better health needs to be individualized. Most diets are not effective in the long-term because they are not sustainable.  I do believe that developing the habit of portion control can have a positive impact on your ability to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

On means to develop portion control is to divide your dinner and save a portion for tomorrow. Using it as a means to a meal plan will help you win with a healthier portion for both days. Now,. that will allow you to win the calorie war on two days instead of one.

The bottom line: Turn part of dinner into a healthy lunch the next day by dividing it and wrapping your leftovers for the next day. This will help to prevent overeating two days ina row.
