So you are at a party or a family dinner at this new restaurant.  Where do you sit at the table?  Wait staff tends to place all of the appetizers and bread near the center of the table.  If you’re closer to the center of the table, chances are all your favorite dishes will be within arms reach and you will end up eating more than you want to consume.  I recommend that you sit toward on end or the other.  Sure, you want to a part of the party, and the middle might be where the action is, but it is also where the appetizers and bread will be placed.  Sitting on an end will make it tougher for you reach them and it will take more effort for you to mindlessly eat the finger foods or find a way to place a second serving on your plate.

The bottom line:  People who sit in the middle eat more at parties and gatherings.  Make smart choices and sit where you will eat less.  If you have to sit in the middle, you should consider passing the bread and appetizers around the table before you have any to limit your intake.
