One item you can add to your plans for weight loss is more vegetables and fiber. Salads are full of fiber that can help you feel full without those extra calories that need to be burned off. Salads, if propperly made can contain plenty of fiber and vegetables, but if not, they can be a disaster.

Since most vegetables are low in calories and carbohydrates, you can eat huge portions, feel more satisfied, and still lose weight. Vegetables also take a long time to eat. You must take your time chewing them to small pieces in order to swallow them. They often require you to drink water while eating them and not the vegetables and water can fill the belly before you even get the main course.

Fat added to a salad can hinder weight loss. Cheese and salad dressing are the common sources of fat in a salad. The dressing is the enemy of weight loss but salad without dressing is like eating crunchy cardboard. Dipping in salad dressing and reduce your consumption.

The bottom line: Eating a salad first can fill you up with lower calorie vegetables and prevent you from scarfing down the higher carbohydrate food you need to avoid. The key is to watch the amount of dressing.
