Type 2 Diabetes can be slowed or prevented.

“No disease that can be treated by diet should be treated with any other means.”

Diabetes type II or adult-onset diabetes is a genetic disease that is diet and nutrition-related.  If your parents have it, you likely have the gene that will give you this disease.  You and you alone have the ability to prevent it.  It is absolutely tied to obesity and an expanding waistline.  The more inches in your waist circumference, the more likely you will acquire this illness.  The more carbohydrates you eat and the less you exercise, the more likely you will acquire the illness at a younger age.  So what is worse?  It is a heart disease equivalent because it causes coronary arteriosclerosis (clogged arteries) silently over time.

How do you prevent it?  Watch your diet and avoid central obesity and you will avoid Diabetes type II or at least delay its onset.  It is funny how this Rabbi from Egypt who died in 1204 had the prevention pegged way back then.
