Taking a break from eating may the key to weight loss.

Most of us sit down to eat and once we start shoveling with the fork, we do not stop eating until our food is all gone. We are in a rush all day and we rarely take a break so why should meals be any different?

Take a break during your meal. To ensure you feel full and prevent yourself from overeating, slow down and enjoy the meal. It takes time for your belly to register it is full. The full register is not instantaneous so by taking a break to talk and enjoy the dinner company, you might determine that you are full while eating less. Also, take a few minutes to sip your water. Once you done drinking or talking, think about if you are still hungry and stop if you are not.

The bottom line: Slowing the eating process can help you eat less. I recommend that you stop for a few moments between courses or servings. Make it a regular habit to slow down your eating and you eat less.
