Weight loss tip 139 – Results or Excuses

ExcusesOk, you had a bad weekend and you slipped up and either did not exercise, splurged on snacks, or both.  But really, stuffing yourself like a Christmas turkey isn’t limited to the holidays. There are plenty of times we might be tempted to overeat.  My favorite is Superbowl parties.  And, sometimes, it is nothing more than a trip to the movies on a lazy weekend or that late-night frozen pizza that you intended to just have one serving and refrigerate the rest.  The problem is not the meal, but the guilt that occurs afterward.  

You are now feeling dejected and full of regret.  You are now in full excuse mode.  You are blaming it on stress and everything but you own misstep.  You are now thinking of a juice or water fast to make up for the bad decision.   Heck, you might even think that you should just take a few days off to eat away the guilt.  You might be thinking of doubling you exercise the next day.  I am going to encourage you to not to do this.  Stop wallowing in your own little pity party and get motivated.  

Get up and get moving.  A little light exercise is exactly what you need right now.  You can bounce back from his and get out of this little rut.  Take a walk around the block or go lift some weights.   

You can either make excuses and sink into a sugar-induced coma as you eat that piece of cake that you snuck home from a party at work or you can get motivated to get results.  A single splurge will not kill your progress, so don’t have regrets and self-pity.  Don’t let your splurge and slip-ups define you.  You can and will recover, so get back on the track and eat and exercise like you planned.  

The bottom line: Stop making excuses and start making progress toward your goal.  Excuses undermine your plans.
