Packing up sucks!

Moving Boxes

Today will be a rough day.  I have to pack up an one bedroom apartment and load it into a moving truck.  The good news is that I will be home in 48-72 hours.  Home sweet home Georgia.  I am a West Virginia Boy by heart, but Georgia is a good second home.    Moving can be a very happy time, but it is no vacation.  Vacations are a beautiful time when you get to escape day-to-day stress, but moving is stressful.   If you are trying to lose r maintain your weight, they be quite treacherous.   The key is avoiding overindulgence with your comfort foods.

When you’re traveling, you probably let it all of that slide.  Why worry about what you are eating?  You might even think making any weight-loss progress on vacation is pretty much impossible, right? Wrong! I would still recommend that you try to maintain a healthier diet with whole foods as you can.  My wife and I are packing our lunches and going to stop at rest areas.  We will have dinner out and lunches outside.

I weighed 209.5 pounds this am.  Too many sweets and salty food in the last 24 hours.  You can pack on the pounds if you have too many calorie pack drinks and sweets.  As I said yesterday, today is another day to focus in on and be more successful.  I have lost a  little momentum but I am back on track today.

The bottom line:  Travel and vacation do not need to derail your weight loss.   It’s been nearly two years since I lost the all the weight.  I have been successful to some degree of sleeping it off by maintaining most of the healthy habits that got me here.  I am not about to let myself go into a tailspin.  This article is therapy to prevent that and keep me accountable.
